The fever dosmilera that has taken over the second-hand stores of any gentrified neighborhood has landed in Billboard. This week, the music magazine has generated an earthquake that cannot be recorded on the Richter scale by publishing, through a list that has been revealed in dribs and drabs, the 25 best artists of the 21st century. There are the names that everyone was asking for, the legends, the disruptors and those who paved the way for the rest to walk peacefully on the yellow tiles that lead to the Olympus of the music industry.

The last two decades have brought with them countless artists who have marked a before and after in the guild. Now, although it is often said that the order of the factors does not alter the product, the reality is very different when it comes to calculating which singer has been the most notable – especially taking into account the ferocity of the groupies who have been accompanying them for years through their not so nice X- accounts.

The music magazine has set itself the more than complicated challenge of not only naming the 25 singers who have marked the sound conversation so far this century, but also ordering them by ‘importance’ (according to the standards of its writers and experts). Number 25 is Katy Perrywhich just launched 143a latest album that has not had the success or fury of his previous musical projects. Despite having starred one of the most iconic Super Bowl performances (everyone remembers the shark who couldn’t distinguish between left and right) and having countless hits that established her as one of the voices of the 2010s, Billboard places it last. Is it not Teenage Dream a sufficient reason to have placed it higher?

Above her are Ed Sheeran, Bad Bunny, One Direction, lil wayne and Bruno Marswhich occupies position number 20. They are followed by btsthe South Korean band that has taken K-Pop beyond its borders, turning it into a global phenomenon reminiscent of the fever that was once sparked by the boybands from the 90s. Above, The Weeknd, Shakira, Jay-Z and Miley Cyrus. The Colombian singer who collaborated with artists that we will name later slips into the list as the most awarded Latin artist of the century (Only she and the Puerto Rican who shook the foundations of reggaeton manage to represent music in ). We continue, there are still a few names left until we reach the podium. Above Cyrus, one of the few ‘ex-Disney girls’ who have known how to remove the corset imposed by expectations (and who has been the creator of some of the generational anthems of recent years), are Justin Timberlake, Nicki Minaj, Eminem, Usher and Adelewho with only four albums ranks as the tenth most notable artist for the musical artist. The British singer has emerged as one of the essential singers on the artistic scene with a very marked style and a way of carrying out her career away from the fervor of exacerbated consumption.

Now is when the battle in the ring begins. Adele marks a ‘Top 10’ that is getting worse at times (and that has generated countless Twitter battles between various fandoms).
