Kamala Harris condemns anti-Netanyahu protests in US as ‘anti-Semitic’ and ‘unpatriotic’

US Vice President and Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris has condemned Wednesday’s protest in Washington against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “anti-Semitic” and “unpatriotic.”

Harris has criticized the protesters’ “despicable acts and dangerous hateful rhetoric.” At least six people were arrested during the protest, which included burning an American flag.

“I condemn any individual associated with the brutal terrorist organization Hamas, which has vowed to annihilate the State of Israel and kill Jews. Pro-Hamas graffiti and rhetoric is abhorrent. We must not tolerate it in our nation,” he said in a statement.

“I condemn the burning of the American flag. The flag is the symbol of our highest ideals and represents the promise of America. It should never be insulted in this way,” he added.

Harris has expressed her “support for the right to peaceful protest, but let us be clear: anti-Semitism, hatred and violence of any kind have no place in our nation.”
