Against all odds, Judgment and its direct sequel, Lost Judgement, came to PC in early September. As expected, the modding community showed their talent and already released some mods that alter or expand Takayuki Yagami’s adventures. And yes, the work of a user managed to bring back one of the original actors.
In the first installment of this spin-off of Yakuza, was the Japanese actor and musician Pierre Taki who lent his image and voice to Kyohei Hamura, one of the main characters. However, a real-life scandal prompted SEGA and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio to change the character’s model and voice.
Shortly after the release of Judgment On Japanese soil, local authorities arrested Pierre Taki on suspicion of drug use and possession, crimes that carry significant legal penalties in the Land of the Rising Sun. According to the portal VGCthe celebrity was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
This controversy forced SEGA to temporarily stop the sale of the video game in Japan and the developers to replace the original actor with Miou Tanaka, who played Kyohei Hamura in the international versions of the title after the departure of Pierre Taki.

Kyohei Hamura, antagonist of Judgment, recovers his original face thanks to a modder
Now, the most nostalgic fans can enjoy Judgment with actor Pierre Taki in the role of Kyohei Hamura. This thanks to a talented modder who managed to bring back the voice and face of the first incarnation of the character.
Specifically, it was the user Timo654 who managed to reincorporate the performance of the Japanese musician in the SEGA and Ryu ga Gotoku Studio video game. In the images we see that Kyohei Hamura looks just like in the original version before the controversy that surrounded the actor came to light in the Japanese media.
“The purpose of this patch is to restore both the original appearance and Japanese voice of Kyohei Hamura to the likeness of the actor who portrayed him in the original version of Judgment, Pierre Taki, who was replaced because he was arrested for possession and use of drugs. This is a port of the mod originally made for the PS4 version, but was remade to work with the remastered PC version,” the modder explained.
