April 14 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador, Nathir Mustafa al Qaisi, this Sunday to protest Iran's criticism of the downing of drones in Jordanian airspace during the Iranian attack against Israel.

“It was assessed that there was a real danger of Iranian drones and missiles falling on Jordan and the Armed Forces dealt with this danger,” Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said on the X social network.

In this sense, he has assured that if this danger “came from Israel” he would also make the same decision. “The actions we took yesterday we have taken in the past and we will take them in the future, whether the source of the threat is Israel, Iran or whoever,” she added.

Furthermore, the Jordanian Foreign Minister has criticized “the offensive statements of the Iranian media.” “We are not seeking an escalation with Iran. We want good relations based on the principle of non-interference in internal affairs,” he stated.

Likewise, he recalled that “the only way to reduce the escalation” is to stop the Israeli offensive on the Gaza Strip, where more than 33,700 people have already died, as reported by Gazan authorities.

On the other hand, King Abdullah II of Jordan has conveyed to the American president, Joe Biden, in a call “the need to immediately stop the escalation in the region” and has warned that “any measure” taken by Israel can lead to “expand the conflict” in the Middle East, according to a message from the Jordanian Royal House on the social network X.

The Jordanian Council of Ministers confirmed that the Army “intercepted some of the flying objects that entered Jordanian airspace last night” to “prevent them from endangering citizens.”
