The President of the United States, Joe Biden, has informed King Charles III of the United Kingdom that he will be the first American lady who will represent the country at his coronation.
The White House has indicated, through a statement, that the president “has congratulated the king on his upcoming coronation and has informed him that the first lady, Jill Biden, hopes to attend on behalf of the United States.”
The president “has also conveyed his desire to meet with the king in the United Kingdom at a future date,” the letter continues, adding that they have commented on “the strength of the relationship” and “the friendship” between both countries.
The coronation of King Charles III of the United Kingdom and Queen Camilla Parker-Bowles will take place during the first weekend of May, from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 at Westminster Abbey in London. On Saturday will take place the coronation, the monarch’s procession and royal greetings from Buckingham Palace. On the Sunday in May there will be a concert at Windsor Castle and the ‘Great Coronation Luncheon’. The last day, Monday, will be dedicated to volunteer program actions.
Carlos III acceded to the throne in September 2022 after the long reign of his mother Elizabeth II. The new monarch will be crowned at the age of 74 and will thus become the latest coronation in the history of this monarchy, as well as the first in almost 70 years.
