Job vacancies grow slightly in December, up to 155,737 offers, according to InfoJobs

One in every four vacancies published corresponds to sectors linked to commercial activity

Job vacancies in December reached 155,737 jobs offered, which represents a slight increase of 1% compared to the same month of the previous year, but 29% less compared to November, according to data recorded on the InfoJobs platform.

In the last month of the year, purchases, logistics and warehouse, with 13% of the total supply; customer service (9%); and retail sales (3%) account for 25% of the total vacancies offered on the platform, that is, one in every four vacancies published correspond to sectors linked to commercial activity.

In the monthly comparison, almost all categories register negative percentages. In the case of the three mentioned, purchasing, logistics and warehouse, it drops by 42% and accounts for more than 20,300 vacancies; customer service drops 32% and exceeds 14,700; and retail sales reflects a drop of 40% and brings together more than 5,100 jobs.

If we look at the year-on-year comparison, customer service is the category that falls the most (-18%) and retail sales follows (-4%). In contrast, purchasing, logistics and warehouse remained the same, with a slight increase of 2%. However, the most notable category this month is commercial and sales, with more than 24,500 jobs, 11% more than in 2023.

In relation to the number of candidates registered in December for these categories, logistics and warehouse purchasing registers 64,600 applications; customer service, 106,500; and retail, 16,200 offers.

Additionally, vacancies on the platform for the Black Friday, Christmas and Sales campaign have increased by 40% compared to the previous year, with 15,239 more, exceeding 53,000 offers, which is double compared to the pre-pandemic period.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING, THE MOST POSITIVE NOTE

The education and training category is positioned as one of the most dynamic on the platform, with more than 6,220 vacancies, 10% more compared to November 2024 and 2% above December 2023.

However, the three most in-demand positions were teleoperator, with 13,100 vacancies; warehouse boy, with 10,250; and commercial delegate, with 7,160.

42.7% OF THE TOTAL VACANCIES ARE OF AN INDEFINITE NATURE

Among the vacancies registered in InfoJobs, a total of 66,532 positions were published with a type of indefinite contract, which represents 42.7% of the vacancies that reported on the type of contract.

Regarding fixed-term contracts, this typology has gathered 30.1% of the total vacancies offered during the month of December, 46,897.

Regarding the type of work to be done, in December, vacancies that offered full-time work predominated, which represented 60.8% of the total, while 20.4% of the jobs offered part-time work.

ALL ACCOUNTS PRESENT FALLS COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS MONTH

By autonomous community, the steepest monthly falls are observed in Navarra (-40%), Asturias (-39%) and Catalonia (-35%), while there was no progress.

In the year-on-year comparison, the communities with the most significant growth are the Valencian Community (+38%), Castilla la Mancha (+15%) and Castilla y León (+18%). On the opposite side, the highest falls occurred in the Basque Country (-15%) and Madrid (-12.3%).
