“Eric turned 44 on September 15 and his family gave him every love cell we have to celebrate his life,” Simpson, 44, wrote alongside her September 19 post. “My heart is so captivated by this man that I could hardly call him mine… We love you.”

He also explained his absence from the internet, adding: “(not an Instagram guy, but I always think the more well wishes, the better).”

That’s why, when Johnson suddenly didn’t appear on Simpson’s grid, it was even more noticeable.

In fact, in the more than a year since Johnson’s birthday, she has only appeared on Simpson’s Instagram twice: the first for a post chronicling the family’s spring break in April, and the second shared just a day later as a late Easter photo dump where Johnson was part of the family group photo.

Instead, some of Simpson’s most recent social media posts added fuel to the breakup fire, causing fans to speculate whether she was single in the comments sections.

On September 23, Simpson captioned a series of solo shots, in a post for parts one and two, “A weekend of much-needed self-love hugs and pure magnetism.”

That same day, she also shared selfie she captionedquoting Jack White’s “Archbishop Harold Holmes,” “Hate is trying to take someone else’s love for yourself, but I’m here to tell you that love is trying to help someone else.”

As one user commented about the series: “This screams that I’m getting a divorce.”

Johnson’s absence from Simpson’s social media feed was notable. After all, the 44-year-old often shared snaps of his partner’s getaways, date nights and family vacations, as well as sharing tributes on birthdays and anniversaries.

Among his most notable was Simpson’s tribute on the couple’s 11th anniversary as a couple. “Our connected hearts are praised and celebrated on this fortuitous day,” he captioned your May 2021 post. “The night we met, I knew your destiny, I locked the key to my seeking heart and simply held my soul with love and honor. So, now and for the rest of my life I will be fully and always yours and you mine.”
