The Lebanese militia party Hezbollah on Thursday promised that “Jerusalem will be liberated one day” during the funeral of commander Muhamad Nima Naser, alias “Abu Nima”, who died on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike near the Lebanese city of Tyre.
Hashem Safi al-Din, chairman of Hezbollah’s Executive Council, said goodbye to Nasser in a speech at the event, which took place in southern Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. He said it was necessary to “continue on the path of resistance and jihad until we achieve the liberation of holy Jerusalem.”
In this regard, he stressed the importance of continuing to support the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip as they continue to confront Israeli forces in the framework of their “brave resistance,” according to the al-Manar television channel, which is linked to the group.
Al-Din said the killing of Hezbollah leaders “only leads to increased determination on the part of the resistance members, who advocate fighting and fighting” until “the enemy is defeated.”
He stressed that the next generations will continue to resist until they achieve the “promised victory.” “Jerusalem will be liberated one day,” he said, before describing the Israeli army’s operation in Rafah and Gaza as “disastrous.”
“This shows that we are dealing with an enemy that is already exhausted and incapable of achieving victories,” he said, adding that the Lebanese front will continue to resist. “The blood of the leaders and martyrs will create a new victory,” he concluded.
Hours earlier, Hezbollah claimed to have launched more than 200 projectiles at Israeli territory from Lebanon, in a second wave of attacks in response to the commander’s death. The group stressed that it had launched “more than 200 projectiles of various types” against “several enemy military bases” in northern Israel.
