( Spanish) – Argentine President Javier Milei plans to travel to the United States with the intention of meeting with President-elect Donald Trump in mid-November, a source close to the government told .
From the Casa Rosada they add that Milei seeks to hold a meeting within the framework of the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) between the 14th and 16th of this month at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, Florida.
Milei plans to attend Trump’s inauguration in January 2025, according to the same source.
contacted Trump’s election campaign to confirm the invitations, but has yet to hear back.
Javier Milei had already attended another CPAC summit in February of this year, where he had a brief meeting with Trump and they took a photo.
Milei celebrated on Wednesday the victory of the Republican candidate that ensures him a second term in the White House.
Hours after the first election results were announced, Milei congratulated his peer on the social network X. “Congratulations on your formidable electoral victory. Now, Make America Great Again. You know that you can count on Argentina to carry out your task. Successes and blessings. Best regards,” published the Argentine head of state.
Later, he added another greeting on Instagram with an image made with artificial intelligence that shows a lion hugging an avatar of Trump and the flags of both countries in the background.
He then posted a video on TikTok offering his support for Trump. “You can count on Argentina to make America great again and we know we can count on you to make Argentina great again.”
The Argentine president’s admiration for Trump is nothing new. Milei has praised him on several occasions. In September of this year he had declared in an interview with the local press that the two “most relevant politicians on planet Earth” are, in his opinion, Donald Trump and him.
