May 21. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Japanese Prime Minister, Fumio Kishida, highlighted this Sunday the symbolism of holding a G7 summit in the city of Hiroshima, together with Nagasaki, the only cities bombed with nuclear weapons, and stressed that “nuclear war should never be waged”. .

“We have reaffirmed that there is no winner in a nuclear war. A nuclear war should never be waged,” Kishida said in the balance statements of the summit, which ends this Sunday.

“I feel a historical symbolism in that the leaders of the G7 have made this very clear statement in this city, which was bombed with an atomic bomb, and after listening to survivors and seeing with their own eyes the devastation and feeling the hope of peace of the people,” he added.

Kishida has also warned that any attempt to modify the ‘status quo’ by force cannot be tolerated and has assured that the G7 will work to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine as soon as possible.

“I also think it is important that we have invited Ukrainian President Volodimir Zalensky to Japan. It demonstrates the G7’s strong solidarity with Ukraine and confirms the importance of a free and open international order based on laws, as well as our firm commitment to protect it.” , Kishida has highlighted.

The Japanese president has also pointed out the risk of serious consequences for the global economy if the war in Ukraine continues with specific problems such as inflation or the shortage of food or energy.

For this reason, he has highlighted the efforts of the G7 to achieve sustainable growth and collaborate with other countries to increase economic resistance and international security by strengthening supply chains and infrastructures.
