Japan denounces the presence of a Chinese military drone near the island of Okinawa

Jan. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Ministry of Defense of Japan has denounced this Sunday the presence of an alleged unmanned military drone from China near the Japanese islands of Okinawa and Miyakojima.

According to the Japanese authorities, the aircraft would have passed between the islands of Okinawa and Miyakojima –near Taiwan–, would have entered the Pacific Ocean and would have returned to the East China Sea.

The air vehicle, identified as a WZ7 drone, has been detected for the first time by the Japanese ministerial portfolio as an anti-aircraft intrusion measure, as reported by the NHK chain.

Thus, the Japanese Armed Forces have responded with F15 fighters from the base in Naha, the capital of Okinawa, the southernmost prefecture on the island.
