Italy's Defense Minister taken to hospital

May 22. () –

The Minister of Defense of Italy, Guido Crosseto, was transferred this Tuesday by ambulance to a hospital in the country’s capital, Rome, after he felt unwell during the meeting of the Supreme Defense Council.

Sources consulted by the Italian public radio and television RAI have indicated that he is at the San Carlo hospital in Nancy for a medical check-up, although there is no further information on the matter. The minister had complained of chest pains.

Crosetto was due to participate this Wednesday in a question time in the Chamber of Deputies, but will probably have to postpone the institutional appointment.

It should be noted that this is the same center where the minister was urgently admitted in February. Then, after performing a series of tests, they detected pericarditis, inflammation of the double membrane that surrounds the heart. On that occasion, even from the hospital, he continued to perform his duties.
