July 15 () –
Italian meteorological experts anticipate historical heat records in the country before the arrival of anticyclone Caronte this weekend, after the maximum of 44ºC reached in the previous days.
The new African heat wave, the third of the year, will arrive next Sunday with initial temperatures of 38º in Rome and Florence, spreading through the regions of Lazio and Tuscany, and will continue to rise in the center-south of the country until next Wednesday.
Especially high will be the night temperatures, which will exceed 22ºC, with the consequent danger even for people who protect themselves from the heat in their homes, especially the elderly population.
“It is likely that on Tuesday we will end up with 43ºC in the shade,” the head of the specialized website Il Meteo told the newspaper ‘La Repubblica’.
A similar red alert has been issued in Cyprus given that it will precisely reach these 43ºC at noon this Saturday in the capital, Nicosia. At night, the thermometer will barely drop below 28ºC.
