The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, warned this Thursday that North Korea has 10,000 troops deployed in Ukrainian territory occupied by Russia and is ready to send them to fight in the Ukraine conflict, something that he warned would be “a step towards a world war.”

At a press conference from Brussels after meeting with the leaders of the 27, the Ukrainian leader indicated that Intelligence information shows that 10,000 North Korean soldiers are in the territory of eastern Ukraine occupied by Russia, who have joined the Russian Army and They can intervene in war.

“Putin is worried about having to make new mobilizations, which is why he is trying to involve other actors in the war,” the Ukrainian leader argued.

This same Tuesday, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the alliance has not confirmed this information although he admitted that the situation is worrying.

“We know that North Korea is helping to fuel Russia’s war effort against Ukraine, and we strongly condemn the further deepening of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea,” he said, while indicating that he could not confirm at this time that North Korean forces are ready to fight against Ukraine.
