MADRID 21 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli Army announced this Monday that its air defenses have intercepted at least two drones launched by the coalition of pro-Iranian militias, the Islamic Resistance of Iraq, against the occupied Golan Heights, without any casualties or damage being reported for the moment.
“The air force has recently intercepted, in Syrian skies, a drone that was launched from the east. The aircraft was intercepted before crossing into the territory of the State of Israel,” the Israel Defense Forces said. (FDI) through a statement published on its profile on the social network X.
Subsequently, they have indicated that the air defenses have intercepted a drone that has crossed into the country also “from the east” in the area of the Jordan Valley, in the vicinity of the Golan Heights. The Islamic Resistance of Iraq has announced an attack against a “vital target” located in this area and has published a video documenting the launch.
The published images show the launch of a drone with a photograph of the face of the leader of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), Yahya Sinwar, killed this week in clashes with the Israeli Army in the Gaza Strip. The militia has stressed that these actions take place due to its support for Palestine and Lebanon and “in response to the massacres committed by the usurping entity against civilians.”
The Islamic Resistance of Iraq – made up of groups such as Kataib Hezbollah, Kataib Sayid al Shuhada, Asaib Ahl al Haq or Harakat Hezbollah al Nujaba – began carrying out sporadic attacks after the attacks by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7 2023, although it has increased them over time, especially after the massive wave of Israeli bombings and subsequent invasion of Lebanon against the Shiite militia party Hezbollah.
