Aug. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz on Friday accused Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of turning Turkey into a “dictatorship” by supporting “the murderers and rapists” of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
“It blocks Instagram, with 57 million users in Turkey, cuts off sports broadcasts because an Israeli athlete defeated a Turkish athlete, threatens to invade a democratic country with which Turkey has no military conflict and cuts off trade relations,” he said on the social network X.
This comes after the Information and Communications Technology Authority (BTK) reported that Instagram has been blocked in Turkey following the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Anatolia news agency reported.
It should also be noted that Turkey’s head of religious affairs, Ali Erbas, declared a day of national mourning on Friday for the death of Haniyeh in an alleged Israeli attack on his hotel in Tehran, the capital of Iran.
In response, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Katz had a “genuine illness” because “instead of taking up his post,” he “constantly” makes allusions to Ankara, making it “the object of his own deceptions.”
“This person, whose presence in the cabinet consists of an obsession with slander and lies, is a monument to the insolence and shamelessness of Netanyahu’s genocidal government,” he stressed on the aforementioned social network.
