Israeli security forces on Tuesday killed a Palestinian who allegedly stabbed an officer during a raid in the West Bank town of Al Bireh, near Ramallah, amid heightened tensions since 2023, exacerbated by the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
Israeli police said the man, originally from the Gaza Strip, was shot dead after stabbing a Border Police officer during a joint operation with the army and the Shin Bet, the internal intelligence services, the Israeli newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’ reported.
The man has been identified as Ahmed Ramzi Abdulsultan, 20, according to Palestinian security sources quoted by the Palestinian news agency WAFA, who said that the deceased was shot during clashes that broke out during the Israeli operation.
