Aug. 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli army on Friday shot dead two Palestinians, calling them “terrorists” for their alleged role in two attacks, one of them a car bomb, near the settlement of Gush Etzion in the West Bank, leaving at least three wounded.

“Two security incidents occurred in the Etzion Brigade area in the past hour. A vehicle caught fire and exploded approximately one hour ago at the gas station at the Gush Etzion Junction. Forces arriving at the scene shot dead the terrorist who got out of the vehicle and tried to attack them,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on social media.

In this regard, military sources have informed the newspaper ‘Times of Israel’ that an IDF commander in the area was “lightly wounded” after being hit in the arm during the exchange of fire with the “Palestinian terrorist.” According to the aforementioned newspaper, two other people were wounded during the gunfire and have been treated and taken to the hospital by Israel’s national ambulance service, Magen David Adom (MDA).

The second attack also resulted in one person being slightly injured after being hit by a car that entered the Karmi Tzur settlement, located near the aforementioned town. The Armed Forces, dispatched to the scene of the attack after receiving a warning shortly before 10:55 p.m. (local time), killed the “terrorist” after he opened fire.

“The IDF, the police and the National Intelligence Service (the Shin Bet) are conducting extensive searches and blocking intersections in the area. At this time, it is not possible to determine whether there is a connection between the events,” the army announced, confirming that “several victims” had been reported.

Israeli army operations and attacks by Israeli settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem have left more than 660 Palestinians dead since the escalation of such actions since October 7, when the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions carried out an assault on Israeli territory that left some 1,200 dead and nearly 240 kidnapped.

The Israeli army has also launched a large-scale military offensive against the Gaza Strip in response to these attacks, which has so far left more than 40,600 Palestinians dead and nearly 94,000 wounded, according to the latest figures provided by the authorities of the enclave, controlled by Hamas.
