Israel signs a new agreement with the US for the purchase of another 25 F-15 fighters

MADRID 7 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli authorities have signed this Thursday a new agreement with the US Government for the purchase of another 25 F-15 fighters worth 5.2 billion dollars (about 4.8 billion euros), as explained by the Israeli Ministry of Defense. .

This is a major purchase and sale agreement that comes at the height of the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and a few hours after the Republican candidate and former US president Donald Trump was proclaimed the virtual winner of the presidential elections held on Tuesday in the North American country.

The package includes new generation aircraft manufactured by the American company Boeing, as indicated by the Ministry in a statement in which it clarified that the transaction of the agreed amount will be carried out with “American aid funds”, which also leaves the open door to the acquisition of another 25 aircraft of this type.

According to the pact, these fighters will be delivered in four packages over the next six years, starting in 2031. The Ministry of Defense has stated that the aircraft will contribute to “equipping the Israeli weapons system.” “This model has improved range capabilities, greater payload capacity and increased performance in various operational scenarios,” he clarified.

“These advantages will allow the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority to address current and future challenges in the Middle East,” he stated.

For his part, the president of Boeing in Israel, Ido Nehoshtan, said he was “proud of the great alliance established with the country, a relationship that dates back to the founding of the Israeli State.”
