He claims that “the vast majority” are members of Hezbollah and that he is preparing in case he has to launch “a decisive attack”

The Israeli army said on Friday it had killed more than 500 “terrorists,” the “vast majority” of whom were members of the Shiite militia-party Hezbollah, in the context of more than nine months of clashes on the border with Lebanon following the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions.
The commander of the Northern Command, Uri Gordin, has stressed that “there are many offensive activities” and that “more than 500 terrorists have already been eliminated in Lebanon, the vast majority of them members of Hezbollah.” “We have destroyed thousands of infrastructures,” he said.
He said the military was “working daily to protect the towns in northern Galilee and to increase preparedness against an attack,” adding that the army was working to “change the security situation in the north.” “All residents of Metula and the north will be able to return to their homes,” he added.
“Our backs are to the residents and citizens and our faces and our guns are pointed at the enemy,” Gordin stressed, adding that “when the time comes and we have to attack, it will be a decisive attack,” according to a transcript of his remarks posted on the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) website.
The Israeli army on Friday bombed targets allegedly linked to the group in southern Lebanon and intercepted “a launch that crossed from Lebanese territory,” with no reports of casualties or material damage so far.
Tensions have risen in recent weeks, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently warning that the Israeli army is “prepared for a very powerful action” on the border with Lebanon. Meanwhile, the leader of the Lebanese group, Hassan Nasrallah, has assured that if Hamas and Israel reach a ceasefire in Gaza, the group will end its attacks “without conditions.”
