MADRID 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli Army announced this Tuesday that it had intercepted six projectiles launched by the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah from Lebanon during the night, without reporting damage or casualties.
Initially, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that air defenses have intercepted a suspicious aerial object that crossed from Lebanese territory into Upper Galilee. “Air sirens were activated due to the risk of falling fragments of the interceptor,” a statement said.
Subsequently, they have indicated that five launches have been detected and intercepted around the coastal cities of Haifa and Acre, in northwest Israel.
For its part, Hezbollah has claimed a missile attack against a military base of Israel’s Military Intelligence unit located on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, according to the Al Manar television network, linked to the group.
In addition, the IDF has indicated that during the night they have also detected an aerial target in the northern area of the Golan Heights “that has crossed from the east”: “We have tracked it and it has fallen in an open area in the area. No “There are victims,” he said, in an action that is often claimed by pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.
Within the framework of these launches, the Secretary of the US State Department, Antony Blinken, has spoken with his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan, to address ongoing efforts to “reduce regional tensions.” Blinken has taken the opportunity to thank his counterpart for the “continued provision of humanitarian aid” to both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.
Both have spoken of “the importance of ending the war in Gaza, ensuring the release of all hostages and alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian people” and of “efforts to reach a diplomatic resolution of the conflict on the other side of the Blue Line to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701.”
