MADRID Dec. 23 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army claimed this Monday to have shot down a drone launched by the Houthi rebels from Yemen, although the insurgents, who have carried out dozens of attacks with unmanned aerial devices and missiles in recent months against Israeli territory, have not have spoken so far on the matter.

The Israeli Armed Forces have indicated in a statement that the device has been successfully intercepted “before it entered the airspace” of Israel, so the anti-aircraft sirens have not gone off, as stated in the protocol.

Thus, the drone – which carried explosives – has been completely destroyed before posing a threat to the Israeli population, according to information from the Army.

The launch comes two days after the Houthis tried to hit Israeli territory with a ballistic missile that was intercepted, but only partially. The incident left a school damaged in the city of Tel Aviv, although no fatalities or injuries were reported.

This attack was carried out after the Israeli Army launched the third and largest airstrike against Yemen, which left several ships, power plants and refineries destroyed.
