March 21 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli authorities have assured this Tuesday that they have detained two Palestinians who were planning an armed attack in Jerusalem in the coming days and have affirmed that both would be members of a terrorist group based in the Gaza Strip.
The Shin Bet has indicated that two members of the Resistance Committees in the Palestinian enclave would have led the creation of the cell and worked to recruit Palestinians in the West Bank to give them training and instructions to carry out an attack.
Thus, he has detailed that two of the suspects were recently arrested and that they have revealed during interrogations that they were planning an attack with firearms in Jerusalem, as reported by the Israeli newspaper ‘The Jerusalem Post’.
The arrests come after two other Palestinians were arrested in February for their alleged membership in this cell. Israeli authorities said then that both were planning bomb attacks.
The Shin Bet has stressed that it considers the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which controls the Gaza Strip, in all activities originating from the enclave. “We will continue to work even harder to prevent any attempt by terrorist elements to promote terrorist activities against the State of Israel,” he stressed.
