Israel denounces the launch of a missile from Gaza after tensions over the visit of Ben Gvir

4 Jan. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Israeli Army has denounced on Tuesday the launch of a rocket from Gaza towards southern Israel, after the new Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, visited the Esplanade of the Mosques in the morning.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have indicated that they had detected during the night “a failed launch that fell in the territory of the Gaza Strip,” according to a message published through its profile on the social network Twitter.

Likewise, the IDF has informed that “no alarm” has been activated by the incident, since apparently it would not have caused injuries or damage.

Hamas, which governs the Gaza Strip, stressed hours before that “the infiltration of the Minister of National Security of the occupying Zionist and fascist government in the courtyards of the holy Al Aqsa Mosque, with protection from the forces of the occupation Army, is a flagrant aggression and a desperate attempt that will not change the Islamic history of Jerusalem and the Al Aqsa Mosque.”

The group stressed that the “intrusion” of the Israeli minister constitutes “criminal behavior” that “reveals the state of terror and fear experienced by the leaders of the occupation before the Palestinian right to the city of Jerusalem and the holy mosque of Al Aqsa” .

“Our battle against the Zionist enemy and its fascist and extremist government, in defense of our land, our people, our Jerusalem and our Al Aqsa Mosque, will continue by all means and in all areas of the homeland. Our people will maintain their bond, firmness and exhaustive resistance until the end of the occupation, the liberation and the return”, settled.

Ben Gvir visited the holy site assuring that the Israeli government “will not give in to threats from Hamas,” amid warnings of a possible rise in tensions if he entered the site, known to Jews as the Temple Mount.
