MADRID 7 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have confirmed the death of a soldier during combat this Wednesday in the north of the country, within the framework of the exchange of attacks with the Lebanese Shiite militia party Hezbollah.
“A soldier died yesterday in a barrage of Hezbollah rockets against northern Israel,” the Army announced in a brief statement.
The military has identified the soldier as Ariel Sosnov Sasonov, 20, who was part of the 605th Combat Engineering Battalion, Jerusalem.
The young man died from the impact in the middle of the launch of about 50 rockets by Hezbollah against the border town of Avivim, reports the newspaper ‘The Times of Israel’. In addition, three other soldiers were slightly injured in the attack.
Separately, an infantryman was seriously injured during Wednesday’s fighting in the northern Gaza Strip. The fighter was taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
