Israel confirms the death in Gaza of two more hostages kidnapped on October 7

The Israeli military says it is “investigating all possibilities” surrounding their deaths and does not rule out that they died as a result of its attacks.

The Israeli army confirmed on Monday the death of two more citizens kidnapped during the attacks carried out on October 7 by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and other Palestinian factions and said it was “investigating all possibilities” surrounding their deaths.

The statement published on its website said the deceased were Alex Danzig, 76, and Yagev Buchshtab, 35, who “are not alive” and whose bodies “are being held by the Hamas terrorist organization” in Haza.

“The decision to determine their death was based on intelligence information,” he said, adding that “the circumstances of their death in Hamas captivity are being investigated by professional authorities,” which does not rule out the possibility that they died as a result of Israeli attacks.

“The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is operating with a wide variety of methods to gather information about kidnapped people and hostages in Gaza,” he said, adding that the army “will continue to accompany the families of the kidnapped people.”

According to information collected by the Israeli daily ‘Haaretz’, Buchshtab was kidnapped by Hamas in Nirim along with his wife, Rimon Kirsht Buchshtab, who was released in late November as part of a truce in Gaza. Danzig was kidnapped in Nir Oz.

Israel launched an offensive against the Strip following the October 7 attacks, which left nearly 1,200 people dead and some 240 kidnapped. Hamas-controlled Gaza authorities have reported more than 39,000 dead, with more than 560 Palestinians killed in the West Bank and East Jerusalem in operations by Israeli forces or in attacks by settlers.
