9 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli army confirmed on Monday night another attack against a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, in the centre of the Gaza Strip, for hosting “terrorist activity” of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Islamic Jihad, and which has so far left 15 people injured.
“Fighter jets struck Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in the Gaza Strip tonight as they were carrying out terrorist activities in a school compound in the Nuseirat area, using it as a terrorist shield. The attack was carried out using precise weaponry, in order to minimize damage to uninvolved individuals,” the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on its social media account X.
In this regard, they have denounced the “systematic violations” of international law by the two aforementioned Palestinian groups, which “brutally exploit” civilian infrastructure and use the civilian population “as human shields.”
Palestinian daily Filastin has confirmed that at least 15 people were injured in the attack, but has not yet given a death toll.
The Hamas-controlled Gaza government, on the other hand, has warned Palestinians against calls by the Israeli army to abandon Gaza City in the north to the south of the enclave, considering it a “death trap.”
“We warn our Palestinian people against the occupation’s calls to move from Gaza City to the south in order to lure them into the traps of death, killing and executions. The Israeli occupation army has published some misleading maps calling on our Palestinian people to move from Gaza City to the south as ‘safe’ areas. These calls are false and pose a serious danger to the lives of citizens,” the Gazan government’s Media Office said on its Telegram channel.
In this regard, he recalled that on other occasions Israeli forces have made similar requests and then “executed in cold blood” the citizens who were on the move.
The Israeli army launched a brutal offensive against the Gaza Strip in response to the Hamas attacks on October 7, which left 1,200 people dead and 240 hostages. Since then, Gazan authorities have reported the deaths of nearly 38,200 people, including more than 560 Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as a result of the actions of both Israeli security forces and settlers.
