MADRID Jan 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Israeli authorities have accused the Turkish Government this Wednesday of implementing “imperialist” measures following threats from the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has assured that the presence of Israeli troops in Syrian territory “will only bring negative consequences for all”.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry has indicated in a statement that these are “unnecessary threats” by the Turkish president and has strongly rejected any comments of this type.
“This is an aggressive and imperialist actor that acts both in Syria and in Cyprus, Libya and other areas of the Middle East. The Turkish president should be advised to avoid unnecessary threats. The State of Israel will continue to act to protect its borders from any threat. “, he pointed out.
Erdogan stated shortly before that Israel must withdraw as soon as possible from Syria and noted that its actions are “aggressive” and “must come to an end as soon as possible.” Thus, he urged third countries to “take their hands off Syria.”
“We, together with our Syrian brothers, are going to crush the face of the Islamic State, the YPG and any other terrorist organization that operates in the area,” he clarified in relation to the Kurdish militia units of the Popular Protection Units, which Ankara links to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
