Says Dublin “has crossed all red lines” and says it will open an Embassy in Moldova
Dec. 15 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of Israel announced this Sunday that it will close its Embassy in Ireland citing the “extremely anti-Israel” policy on the part of the Irish Government, days after it approved joining the case presented by South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accusing Israel of committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.
“The anti-Semitic actions and rhetoric that Ireland is adopting against Israel are based on the delegitimization and demonization of the Jewish State and double standards,” said Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who said that “Ireland has crossed all the red lines in its relationship with Israel.
Thus, he highlighted that “Israel will invest its resources in promoting its bilateral relations with the countries of the world in line with priorities that also derive from the countries’ attitude towards it,” according to the newspaper ‘Israel Hayom’.
In this sense, he has announced that Israel will open an Embassy in Moldova. “There are countries interested in strengthening their ties with Israel that still do not have an Israeli Embassy,” explained Saar, who stated that the authorities “will adjust their diplomatic structure” in line with “the countries’ posture and actions towards Israel.”
The Government of Israel already called its ambassador in Ireland for consultations in May, after Dublin announced, together with Spain and Norway, the recognition of the State of Palestine, a measure harshly criticized by the Israeli authorities, who have adopted a position of rejection of the two-state solution, supported by the international community.
