Is the classic FPS Hexen coming back? Fans think Phil Spencer gave them a clue

Although several companies will not go to gamescom 2022, Ubisoft confirms attendance

The Xbox Games Showcase 2023 gave a lot to talk about due to the number of games that were revealed. There is one that was not announced, but fans believe that Xbox could confirm in the future.

If you paid attention to the event, you will surely remember that at the end, the top leader of the brand, Phil Spencer, appeared, who appeared to endorse his commitment to the fans.

However, something that caught the attention of his wardrobe is that he was wearing a very particular shirt, since it had a design of Hexena classic FPS game developed by id Software and originally published by Raven Software in 1983.

“To be honest, I didn’t really communicate much internally. And then I’m on camera recording and people are like, ‘what’s that?’ and I’m, ‘oh, don’t worry,'” Spencer said.

Did Phil Spencer hint at the return of Hexen?

As for whether this is a hint of the return of this FPS game, Spencer explained that it is not the case: “It was not me trying to anticipate its announcement, but just me recognizing the importance of some of the games in our portfolio” (via Polygon).

The manager explained that his tradition of wearing video game shirts in full Xbox presentations dates back a long time and that the first one he wore was jump manpublished by Epix in 1983 for Commodore 64. There was nothing hidden about it, but he only put it on to commemorate the times when he and his dad played this title, something that only his dad (who would be watching the event ) I would understand, apart from the fact that it was at E3 (close to Father’s Day).

In case you missed it: This is all the news for the summer without E3 2023.

It is important to mention, however, that on other occasions Spencer has worn jerseys of games that in the near future there was news of them. The most remembered case is that of battletoadsa franchise that Xbox revived years ago and that Spencer anticipated.

Now that Microsoft has bought Bethesda (owner of id Software), it could be said that it already has the then publisher of Hexen. In the event of completing the purchase of Activision Blizzard King, Xbox would then also have the original developer and owner of the franchise, so you should have no problem if you want to work on a new installment.
