is ready to deploy Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles in Belarus

Ukraine launches an attack with several Storm Shadow missiles from the United Kingdom on Russian territory after using the US ATACMS

The Russian president, Vladimir Putinshowed this Friday willing to deploy in Belarusian territory Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missiles, which were used for the first time on November 21 against an arms factory in Ukraine.

Putin, who made this announcement after signing a Russian-Belarusian agreement in Minsk on security guarantees that contemplates the use of nuclear weapons, assured that said deployment could take place in the first half of 2025.

In addition to once again highlighting the “unparalleled in the world” qualities of these missiles –undetectable by current Western anti-missile shields and that they can reach all European capitals – he stressed that the key is not their potential, but their precision.

This announcement comes on the same day that, within the framework of the meeting of the Supreme Soviet of the Russia-Belarus State Union, Putin and the Belarusian president, Alexandr Lukashenko, signed an agreement on security guarantees, that contemplates the use of nuclear weapons in the face of an external threat, in clear allusion to NATO.

The document contemplates the obligations of both countries in terms of defense of sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and constitutional order, in addition to guaranteeing the inviolability of the territory and borders of the Russia-Belarus State Union.

Putin assured that the State Union, which was created 25 years ago by Lukashenko and his predecessor in the Kremlin, Boris Yeltsin, has approved a new military doctrine that takes into account the “difficult international situation” and breaks down joint measures to confront the main challenges and threats.
