Is China really preparing for the end of the world?

According to the End of the World (or Apocalypse) Clock, humanity is 90 seconds away from an irremediable catastrophe. In reality, it is nothing new at all. This topic has been discussed for decades (since the 1940s and the dropping of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs). And the truth is that, minute up or minute down, nothing has really changed.

But that does not mean that some powers are preparing for a possible end of the world. Finally understanding the world’s threats that could change everything. At least, in the case of China, it does seem that they are taking it quite seriously. According to several reports specialized media in Asiathe world power wants to be ready, just in case.

China, preparing for a global threat?

The case of nuclear weapons is, to say the least, curious. On the one hand, it seems that in recent decades (since they were developed, wow) they have created a kind of status quo among the great powers, without conflicts at a global level, beyond cold wars and tense diplomatic situations. But even so, They are a threat, and China is a country that is very aware of it.

What would happen in the chaos of a nuclear attack? Well, the first thing we would try to verify would be the communications. Without them, this hypothetical “final judgment” would really turn into real chaos. For them, Chinese scientists carried out an experiment to evaluate the resistance of their communication equipment in the event of a nuclear conflict.

Stephen Hawking dared to set a date for the end of the world, now NASA has confirmed it

Basically, the goal of the drill was to verify whether China’s communication systems could function under catastrophic scenarios, such as a nuclear explosion at altitude. This exercise, carried out by engineers from the China Electronic Technology Group (CETC), subjected the data link hardware to more extreme conditions than usual, from a military perspective.

From a technical point of view, the Chinese decided to subject their data link hardware to conditions that simulated a nuclear explosion in the stratosphere. This possibility is better known as an altitude electromagnetic pulse (HEMP) attack.. If they occur, these detonations would theoretically influence the communications of the country (or any other, of course).

What are China’s intentions?

At least on paper, China has committed not to take a first step toward nuclear war. That, at least, is the official position on the matter. But that would not mean, presumably, that they would not retaliate in the event of an attack by another power, as could be the case of the United States, Russia or whoever. And even more so in these times.

In fact, although The reasons why this experiment was carried out have not been specified.many experts have long agreed that the geopolitical tensions that currently exist (as well as the increasingly pronounced international conflicts) explain why the world’s main powers seem to be more tense and alert than ever.
