The Government of Iraq has ordered its charge d’affaires in Bahrain to return to Baghdad after he was summoned by the Bahraini authorities for his “repeated violations of diplomatic rules”, without further details about what happened.
The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, has given the order with the aim of “strengthening the status of Iraqi diplomacy”, according to the Foreign Ministry on its account on the social network Twitter, where it has added that Baghdad is looking for ” uphold diplomatic standards.
The Bahraini government summoned the Iraqi charge d’affaires in Manama, Moayad Omar Abdulrahman, on Tuesday to convey his complaint over his alleged “violations”, which he described as “unacceptable behavior that contradicts diplomatic protocols”, according to the Bahraini state agency of news, bnna
Subsequently, Hussein made a phone call to his Bahraini counterpart, Abdulatif bin Rasid al Zayani, to discuss bilateral relations. In it, the Iraqi minister stressed the “mutual respect” and “brotherly ties” between Baghdad and Manama.
Hussein also bet on “strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.” At the moment, no details have been released about Abdulraham’s actions that would have caused Manama’s complaint.
