The Government of Iraq has confirmed this Sunday the death in Sudan of one of its citizens in the context of combat between the Sudanese Army and the paramilitary Rapid Action Forces (RSF).
“An Iraqi citizen has died as a result of the events that are taking place in Sudan,” Foreign Affairs spokesman Ahmed al Sahaf confirmed to the official Iraqi news agency INA, without giving further details.
The spokesman took the opportunity to confirm the start of the evacuation of 14 Iraqi citizens who are already on their way to the coastal city of Port Sudan.
Previously, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry had reported that one of its diplomats had been shot in the last few hours.
A French citizen would also have been injured during the evacuation, according to sources in ‘Le Monde’.
