September 20 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard commander Hosein Salami said Thursday that Israel would soon face a “crushing response” following a wave of explosions of pagers and other communication devices linked to the Shiite militia-party Hezbollah that has caused chaos in Lebanon.

“While I condemn this terrorist crime of the occupation regime, which has led to martyrdom and massive injuries to the beloved Lebanese people and the Hezbollah mujahideen, they will soon be met with a crushing response from the resistance front. (…) We will soon witness the complete destruction of this cruel and criminal regime,” Salami said in a statement shared by Iran’s Tasnim news agency.

He also described these explosions, which Israel has blamed but which have not yet commented on the matter, as a sign of “desperation” in the face of the “successive failures” of the Israeli Army both in the Gaza Strip and on the border with Lebanon, where “they have not achieved any of their war objectives.”

He also said that these actions were due to the fact that “the enemy cannot confront them face to face,” and congratulated Hezbollah for the continuous clashes in which it has “shaken the security, intelligence and military foundations” of Israel.

“The humiliated enemy, after almost a year of war and resorting to all kinds of crimes, and despite the ignorant and unwavering support of Western governments, has not achieved any of its objectives in the Gaza war. The resistance has been hit every day and has been besieged. The new massive terrorist attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday this week through pagers and electronic systems against women, men and children will not go anywhere,” he added.

More than thirty people were killed between Tuesday and Wednesday when hundreds of communication devices linked to the Hezbollah party-militia exploded, the target of an apparent Israeli attack. Initial investigations suggest the devices were carrying a hidden explosive charge.
