Iran's Revolutionary Guard accuses US and European 'think tanks' of protests over Mahsa Amini's death

Salami regrets that “a small number of young Iranians have been deceived by the enemy”

Oct. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Hosein Salami, said on Monday that the protests over the death of Mahsa Amini, arrested for allegedly wearing the veil incorrectly, were hatched “in ‘think tanks'” in the United States and Europe.

Salami has said that these unspecified ‘think tanks’ would have carried out a plot “together with mercenaries in Riyadh” to cause “violent unrest” in Iran due to their “inability to stop the country’s progress towards development”.

Thus, he pointed out that “the enemies failed in their economic war” and “resorted to instigating riots” and lamented that “a small number of young Iranians have been deceived by the enemy,” according to the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

Salami has also threatened the countries that are supposed to be behind these protests. “One day we will go with these same young people who were deceived. These young people will return to the open arms of their nation and soon they will realize who you are. We will take revenge on these young people. Be careful with your behavior,” he stressed.

The NGO Iran Human Rights put the number of deaths on Friday at 185, including 19 children, due to the repression of protests in the country over the death in custody of Amini, a member of the Kurdish minority. Almost half of the deceased were identified in the town of Zahedan, in the province of Sistan and Baluchistan.

The Iranian Forensic Medicine Organization said last week that Amini’s was not due to any “blow to the head or to the vital organs of his body” and they estimate that it was caused by “multiple organ failure” derived from a heart problem. due to a previous pathology, after the Police rejected the accusations of torture.

For his part, the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, accused the United States and Israel of being behind the “riots” in the context of the protests. “I explicitly say that these riots and security incidents were engineered by the United States and the fake and usurping Zionist regime — in reference to Israel –,” he settled.
