Jul 29. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has warned Israel that if it attacks Lebanon in retaliation for the attack on the Druze town of Majdal Shams in the occupied Golan Heights, it will be committing a “grave mistake” with consequences.

“If the Zionist regime attacks Lebanon, it will make a big mistake that will have serious consequences for them,” he said on Monday during a call with French President Emmanuel Macron, according to the IRNA news agency.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Naser Kanani had warned Israel the day before that if it carried out a retaliatory attack on Lebanon there would be consequences and could lead to an escalation in the region.

During the call with Macron, Pezeshkian also recalled that Israel has violated all international laws by committing “crimes” against the Palestinian population and reiterated that he will spare no effort to resolve the crisis in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli Cabinet has given the green light to Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take “appropriate” measures in response to the weekend attack in the Golan Heights, attributed to the Lebanese party-militia Hezbollah.

The Israeli military has claimed that the rocket was fired from Lebanon by Hezbollah, which is supported by Iran. It has claimed that it was an Iranian-made projectile with a 50-kilogram warhead, although Hezbollah has denied being behind the attack.

The victims were aged between 10 and 16 and were playing football on a local pitch when the attack took place, which also left dozens injured.
