Washington accuses the individual of “conspiring” to help Tehran evade sanctions

Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Wednesday summoned the UK ambassador to Tehran, Simon Shercliff, to protest against London’s extradition of Iranian citizen Saeid Haji Agha Mousaei to the United States, where he is accused of “conspiring” to help the Islamic Republic evade sanctions.
Tehran has called the arrest “illegal” and stressed its diplomatic efforts to secure his release, the ministry said in a statement.
The US Justice Department confirmed on Tuesday that Mousaei, 53, had been brought before the Federal Court in Chicago to face charges of “conspiring” to evade restrictions imposed by Washington on the export and transshipment of advanced US electronic evidence technology to Iran through third countries.
According to court documents cited by the Department, Mousaei was an officer of Dubai-based Millennium Product Company LLC (MPC), which was sued for participating in a scheme to obtain controlled electronic products with military applications, including signal equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, for export and re-export to Iran.
