The Iranian Foreign Ministry has summoned the British chargé d’affaires, Isabel Marsh, to protest the “hostile” statements made by the UK authorities.
The Iranian authorities, who have described the British position as “Iranian-phobic policy”, have called for an end to this hostile approach by Rishi Sunak’s government, according to the Irna news agency.
Likewise, the Foreign Ministry has indicated that the new British sanctions are politically motivated, while criticizing that it is a country that “is not in a position to talk about Human Rights” because “it allows discrimination and the most severe atrocities against immigrants and Muslims”, giving as an example the transfer of refugees to Rwanda, a measure that is “against international law”.
Finally, Iranian diplomacy has stressed that “it will not give in to foreign pressure”, as “it has shown in the last four decades”, for which it has announced sanctions in retaliation for the London measures.
Hours earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced new sanctions against 23 individuals and 13 companies from the European Union and the United Kingdom for “instigating terrorist acts”, “spreading false information” about the Iranian authorities and for imposing “cruel sanctions”.
