An Iranian court has sentenced to death on Tuesday Jamshid Sharmahd, a German-Iranian dual national and leader of the promonarchical organization Tondar, considered by Tehran as a terrorist group based in the United States.
According to information collected by the Iranian news agency Mehr, Sharmahd has been sentenced on charges of “corruption on earth” for “planning and ordering the execution of terrorist acts.” The verdict can still be appealed to the Supreme Court.
The authorities have denounced that Sharmahd planned 23 attacks, of which five were executed, before influencing that Tondar maintained contacts with the intelligence services of the United States and Israel.
Thus, Iran has assured that Sharmahd is behind the explosion in a mosque in the Iranian city of Shiraz in 2008 that claimed the lives of 14 people and injured some 200, as well as other attacks carried out in the Asian country.
The group, which is based in the US city of Los Angeles, is considered the armed wing of an organization called the Assembly of the Kingdom of Iran and seeks to overthrow the current regime to restore the monarchy under a new dynasty.
