Iran says it will reconsider the "severity" of its response to Israel if it agrees to a ceasefire

MADRID 3 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of Iran, Masud Pezeshkian, stated this Sunday that his country would reconsider the “severity” of the response to the recent Israeli bombings on Iranian territory if Israel accepts a ceasefire in its military offensive in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.

“They know well that if they make a mistake against the Islamic Republic of Iran they will have a crushing response. However, if they reconsider their behavior, accept the ceasefire and stop killing and massacring the oppressed and innocent of the region, it could affect the type and severity of our response,” Pezeshkian declared during the Council of Ministers held this Sunday and reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency.

The Iranian president has also highlighted that all countries in the Middle East region “have come to the conclusion that the Islamic Republic of Iran aspires to peace and stability, while the criminal Zionist regime seeks to aggravate the crisis and war.” “.

Thus, he highlighted that Iran “has never started a war” and that “it is the United States that starts wars all over the world” and specifically in West Asia “by supporting the criminal Zionist regime with which it fans the flame of the war.”

Pezeshkian has mentioned the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniye, killed in an Israeli attack in Tehran the day after Pezeshkian himself took office, or his “criminal aggression in Lebanon.”

Along the same lines, the ‘number two’ of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the elite military and ideological body of the Islamic Republic, Vice Admiral Ali Fadavi, has stressed that there will be an Iranian response to the October 26 attack. “You can’t talk about any details,” he argued.

Meanwhile, the Iranian supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, received this Sunday relatives of soldiers killed in the Israeli attack on October 26, which left five dead, four of them members of the anti-aircraft forces. There were relatives of Hamzé Yahandidé, Mohamad Mehdi Shahrojifar, Mehdi Naqvi and Sayad Mansuri.

“All the martyrs are in a privileged position, blessed by Allah, but the martyrdom of these loved ones is in defense of the country,” as a consequence of “the confrontation against the Zionist regime, the most perfidious enemy of Islam.” Furthermore, he has promised that “the reward for the families of the martyrs is no less than that of the martyrs themselves.”
