July 2 () –
The Government of Iran has decided to postpone the trip of its new ambassador to Sweden in protest at the burning of the Koran this week in the capital of the Scandinavian country, Stockholm, during a protest authorized by the country’s Police.
Although the burning was condemned by the Swedish Foreign Ministry, the Swedish Government recalled that the protest was authorized in obedience to the right to freedom of expression, as has happened on previous occasions.
However, the Muslim world has protested furiously at the incident, which also occurred and to make matters worse during the great Muslim festival of Eid al Adha.
That is why the Iranian Foreign Ministry has decided to postpone the arrival of ambassador Hojjatollá Faghani in response to the “insult” to the Koran that occurred in Stockholm, according to sources from the portfolio to the semi-official Iranian agency Tasnim, despite the fact that all the bureaucratic procedures have finished.
