Latest news on the war between Ukraine and Russia
Oct. 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Government of Iran has assured that it is willing to clarify before the Ukrainian authorities the “unfounded” accusations about the use of Iranian-made kamikaze drones by the Russian Armed Forces, which have resorted to this type of weaponry in their latest wave of massive attacks.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Naser Kanani, insisted on Tuesday on Tehran’s alleged impartiality. In this regard, he has stated that Iran has not supplied any weapons to Russia for use in its offensive on Ukraine.
According to Kanani, these are “malicious” accusations, with which they would try to harm Iran’s image at the international level, according to the state network Press TV, despite the indications that contradict the official version of Tehran.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, urged President Volodimir Zelenski on Tuesday to break diplomatic relations with Iran over attacks with kamikaze or suicide drones, which work ‘de facto’ as a projectile. These aircraft carry an explosive charge and are destroyed on impact, without it being clear for now how much of this equipment would be in the possession of the Russian Armed Forces.
Zelensky claimed after the wave of attacks began last week that Moscow had ordered some 2,400 more drones.
