Iran kills four "terrorists" a day after a jihadist attack that left ten police officers dead

MADRID 28 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Iranian authorities announced this Sunday that they have killed four alleged terrorists whom they accuse of having been involved in an attack carried out the day before and that left ten border guards dead in the town of Taftan, in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan. (southeast).

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has indicated that its forces, in cooperation with the provincial Intelligence department and the border guard, have killed the suspects in a drone operation. In addition, they have arrested four other “terrorists”, according to a statement reported by the Iranian news agency Tasnim.

The authorities explained that during the day on Saturday two police patrols that were returning to the police station were attacked in an ambush, leaving ten dead, all of them members of the security forces.

Subsequently, the Army of Justice (Jaish ul Adl), a Sunni separatist movement that Tehran links to the jihadist group Al Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack through its Telegram channel, pointing out that two patrol cars “of the repressive forces ” were attacked and “as a result of which all the occupants died, including the head of the local police station.”

The attack came after Israel launched an attack against military targets in Iran – resulting in five deaths – in response to the Tehran attack on October 1, itself a consequence of Israeli attacks against pro-Iran militia leaders and a commander of the Revolutionary Guard.
