Iranian security forces have arrested six people on Monday allegedly linked to the attack last week against a Shiite mosque in the city of Shiraz, in the southwest of the country, which resulted in fifteen deaths.
The country’s Ministry of Intelligence and National Security has indicated in a statement that the arrests have taken place after a “difficult operation” to identify them, although the second armed assailant is also in custody, according to information from the Tasnim news agency.
On October 26, three armed men opened fire on people praying at the Shah Cheragh Mosque. The attack also left some 45 wounded, including some minors.
Although the Islamic State terrorist group was quick to claim responsibility for the attack, several Iranian media outlets have pointed out that it is a “terrorist act” attributed to members of radical Wahhabi groups.
