Calls for “unity in the Islamic world to cut off the hands of the Zionists at the Al Aqsa Mosque”

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hosein Amirabdolahian, has described Israel as “the greatest threat to the region” and stressed “the need for unity in the Islamic world to cut off the hands of the Zionists at the Al Aqsa Mosque.”

“The apartheid Zionist regime is the biggest threat to the region and the Islamic nation,” Amirabdolahian said during a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart, Ayman al-Safadi, according to a statement published by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on its website. .

Thus, he has stressed the need to support the Palestinian cause and has applauded the efforts of the Jordanian authorities to safeguard the holy places in Jerusalem, including the Esplanade of the Mosques, where the Al Aqsa mosque is located.

Amirabdolahian’s words come a week after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi called for the creation of “a united front of Islamic countries” against Israel and warned that “if the Zionists take even the slightest action against Tehran, They will face a harsh response and the destruction of Haifa and Tel Aviv.”

For his part, Al Safadi has stressed in a statement published by his portfolio on the social network Twitter Amman’s “firm position” in support of “the Palestinian brothers” and to achieve “a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-way solution states, with a Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital”.

Likewise, it has asserted that Jordan seeks to maintain “good relations” with Iran based on the principles of “good neighborliness, non-interference in internal affairs and cooperation”, while it has opted for a “practical, transparent and frank” dialogue to address “unfinished business”.

The Jordanian Foreign Minister has also applauded the agreement signed in March between Iran and Saudi Arabia to restore their relations – broken in 2016 – and has argued that it represents “a great step” to “resolve the tensions in the region and improve the security and stability.

The two ministers have also agreed to continue holding security meetings between the two countries and to continue political communication to “reach points of understanding on future relations, consolidate cooperation and improve security, stability and cooperation in the region.”
