July 19 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, has defended in a meeting with his Russian and Turkish counterparts, Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, respectively, that the solution to the conflict of the war in Syria must be “political”.
Erdogan and Putin are these days in Tehran, the capital of Iran, where they have held talks with each other and with authorities of the Asian country, including with the Supreme Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Thus, one of the meetings scheduled for this event included the three-way meeting between Raisi, Erdogan and Putin to address the conflict of the war in Syria, among other regional issues.
During his speech before his counterparts, Raisi defended that the solution to the Syrian conflict must be nothing other than “a political solution without foreign interference”, according to the Iranian news agency ISNA.
“Today, eleven years have passed since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, Iran still believes that the only solution to the crisis is political, and military action is not only not a solution, but also leads to the deterioration of the situation,” Raisi has asserted.
At this point, the Iranian head of state has made reference to the unilateral sanctions of some international powers, specifically mentioning the United States, and whose main consequence has been “additional pressure on the Syrian people”, who have been ” deprived of the possibility of a normal life”.
That is why, showing his rejection of this type of measure, President Raisi has reaffirmed his support “for the people and the Government of Syria with greater force”, at the same time that he has invited the international community to guarantee that the Syrian refugees can return safely to their homes.
