Iran accuses Zelensky of spreading "anti-Iranian propaganda" in order to receive more Western aid

May 27. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Nasser Kanaani, accused Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky of spreading “anti-Iranian propaganda” with the aim of getting Western powers to redouble their military and financial assistance to Kiev on Saturday.

“The repetition of delusional claims against Iran by the Ukrainian president is in line with anti-Iranian propaganda and media warfare aimed at attracting as much arms and financial aid from Western countries as possible,” Kanaani said.

These accusations by Tehran come after Zelensky released a video this week in which he appealed to the Iranian authorities to stop supplying the Russian army with kamikaze drones, which “terrorize Ukraine every night.”

Thus, Kanaani has stressed that Iran flatly rejects the ongoing war in Ukraine and has stressed the need to reach a political solution to put an end to the conflict and the suffering of the Ukrainian population as soon as possible, reports the Iranian agency ISNA.

However, the Iranian diplomatic spokesman has regretted that the Ukrainian side is not up to the task of holding expert-level talks in Tehran to discuss the “baseless accusations” of supplying Russia with weapons.

In fact, for the Government of Iran, kyiv’s refusal to sit down and discuss this matter only confirms that the accusations have no basis on which to base themselves and that they are politically motivated.

In his aforementioned video, President Zelenski directly questioned Tehran for the reasons why it wants to “be an accomplice to Russian terror” and why it is “on the side of evil”. “Your (Iranian drone) Shaheds terrorizing Ukraine every night only means that the people of Iran are being pushed further and further into the dark side of history,” he said.
