Sep. 7 (Portlatic/EP) –
Apple has updated the family of phones with iPhone 14, which in addition to introducing advanced camera functions, are the first to incorporate emergency messages via satellite, to facilitate communication in extreme situations where the mobile phone signal does not reach.
The new iPhone 14 family consists of two models, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, which differ mainly in size, the first being 6.1 inches and the second 6.7 inches.
Both phones feature a Super Retina XDR display with an Apple-customized OLED panel that achieves 1,200 nits brightness and supports a variety of HDR formats. Both are powered by the A15 Bionic processor, which incorporates custom IPS to enhance camera capabilities.
The new iPhone 14s arrive with a main camera led by a 12MP sensor and an ultra wide angle, which is located in a square module on the back. The main sensor is capable of capturing up to 49 percent more light, while on the front, the company has implemented the TrueDepht camera with autofocus, which improves capture in low light conditions by 38 percent.
This camera implements Photonic Enfine technology, based on Deep Fusion. Using the processor’s neural engine to combine multiple shots into one for the best photo, the new solution works on uncompressed images to deliver brighter, more vivid colors.
In video, the iPhone 14 introduces an advanced stabilization mode, action mode, for recordings with moving subjects. It supports Dolby Vision HDR.
The company has also incorporated innovations in connectivity. On the one hand, the support for the eSIM, in such a way that the US models will lack a physical SIM slot. On the other, new solutions for emergency situations.
Like Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 incorporates traffic accident detection. And for situations in which there is no coverage, satellite communication, designed for emergency messages (Emergency SOS via satellite) in places of difficult access where the telephone signal is not enough.
This communication system only requires being outside and with a clear view of the sky, where it can take about 15 seconds to make the connection. It is accompanied by a screen that helps refine the direction of the satellite, to better capture the signal.
iPhone 14 will hit the market on September 16, at a starting price of $799, while iPhone 14 Plus will arrive a little later, on October 7, from $899.
