Intel has updated their Media Drivers Q2 making them compatible with next generation Intel Raptor Lake processors. This is an Intel API for video acceleration, encoding, and decoding for GPUs embedded in Intel CPUs, now supported not only by Raptor Lake for desktops, but also for Intel Raptor Lake-P laptop version.
This Media Drivers Q2 library has been updated to version 22.4.4 and one of its new features is to make it compatible with the next generation of processors. In addition to the Intel Raptor Lake-S, it will also be compatible with the Intel Raptor Lake-P, which are low power laptop processors of which little we have heard for this next generation. This new generation of mobile processors is expected to include a higher core configuration in laptops24 for the Intel Raptor Lake-HX and up to 22 for Intel Raptor Lake-P.
On the other hand, the Intel Raptor Lake-S series is expected to be available next october. Intel is already preparing its software to make it compatible with this next generation. However, laptop processors are also thought to they will not be available until next 2023, probably during CES in January. Even so, Intel has gone ahead this time including this Intel Raptor Lake-P platform in the Media Drivers Q2.
